The Day Before The NYC Marathon

We woke up in the morning and Zoe seemed a lot better at first. I was hopeful, until she fell asleep during breakfast with a fever. We gave her Tylenol and then headed to my sister in law's house to see all the family. It was great seeing everyone and it for sure kept my mind off of running a marathon the next day! Zoe wasn't really feeling it and was just laying around. We had some pasta and chicken and probably around 5pm went to our hotel in Manhattan.

The website said there is a parking garage with discount but that one was full. So we improvised and got a "cheapish" parking spot through Park whiz. It was tough carrying everything and the child to the hotel. She also fell asleep in the car and was not happy being woken up. We stayed at the Salisbury Hotel on 57th street, which was a perfect location! Only 2 blocks from the last mile of the marathon and also plenty of food close by. And even though we booked it late, we still got a really good deal!

By the time we settled in, it was almost 8pm. We still haven't had dinner! I realized I barely ate anything that day and the day before, which is probably not good for the marathon. But with Zoe being so sick, food was the last thing on my mind. Mike went to a close by deli and bought us a good ham sandwich. That evening Zoe's cough got worse and she was on and off sleeping all night. She was so tired but the cough kept waking her up.

When she finally fell asleep I was sitting in bed and a little freaking out about the marathon the next morning. I was sleep deprived, worried about her being sick and just didn't have a minute to sit down all day to get mentally ready for the race. I was able to write a Facebook Thank You night:

"Thoughts the night before the race... No matter what happens tomorrow I want to THANK Mike and Zoe for their support. I was gone many Saturday mornings and when I was back home, I was often tired. But they made me feel like I'm a super star and always encouraged me. Tomorrow, I want to make sure all their sacrifices were worth it! Below is a perfect picture showing their support. Zoe was not feeling well, so Mike made it work ❤️ I'm so lucky and will not take this granted!"
