I'm Running the NYC Marathon!!!

I still can't believe it! I just got an Instagram message from Strava that I actually won a free entry for this years NYC marathon. The race is in 11 weeks! I'm shocked, scared and oh so excited!! I read the message while I was at the pool with my daughter and a friend. It was so nice to have her with me, as a runner she understood what an amazing opportunity this is!

It all started a week ago when I saw a post on IG from Allie Kieffer that Strava gives away 10 free race entries + coaching from her! All you had to do was post a picture with the hashtag #MyNYCSummit. I posted the following:

The night before the contest ended, I saw it was only 250 people who submitted a picture, way less than I thought. For the first time I thought this might be possible. Above picture was already a lucky pick earlier this month, when I found out it was selected to be printed in the August edition of the Women's Running Magazine! And I guess I was lucky AGAIN!

Per request from Strava, I emailed them some info and I'm currently waiting to hear back from them. I'm a little nervous that for some weird reason they will say, sorry, it was a mistake! I just can't believe this is really happening and also so soon!

I read their fine print and the following is included:
  • complimentary guaranteed entry to the 2018 NYC marathon (Value $295)
  • Strava care package (Value $125)
  • annual Strava Summit membership (value $59)
  • Premium coaching for 10 weeks (value $600) by Kieffer Allie and her coach
That's over a $1,000 of value! I'm sooo excited, especially for the coaching! And the Strava outfit! Always wanted to wear a team outfit!

I hope to hear back soon, so I can get it all started and book the hotel and plan the weekend. And of course also ramp up the miles! Luckily, I kept a very good base of 20 miles/week and this week's long run will be 10 miles. I won't break any personal records running this marathon, but that's not what this is about. I just want to soak in the city and the environment and be able to say I ran the largest marathon in the world!!!

...79 days until the NYC marathon!!!
