It's Race Week!!

I can't believe we are ONE week away from the NYC marathon, it still feels surreal!

Of course I woke up Monday morning with a sore throat, looks like I got Zoe's cold. For now I'm not freaking out, still plenty of time to recover, plus Zoe didn't get it that bad.

I feel 48 miles for this week is too much and decided to not run the speedy 8 mile run on Wednesday.

Monday:
Rest day - hopefully helps to get rid of this cold.

Tuesday:
Sore throat, headaches and stuffy nose. But luckily nothing else. I took a Dayquil and felt pretty good. Easy miles felt good, too. While running my nose felt better than not running! Easy WU mile, than 3 miles sub 9 and a cool down mile. For overall 5 miles @ 9:09

Wednesday: Halloween!
I did tomorrow's 5 miles, since we have a travel day. Same thing as yesterday, felt good running! 5 miles with avg of 9:03. I also did a dress rehearsal since the weather was very similar to race day, sunny, high 40s. Feeling good, considering I have a cold, but not freaking out about it just yet.

Unfortunately, Zoe is not feeling well. During the Halloween party at preschool she was very tired and quiet. We went trick or treating on base, but then went to urgent care just to be safe. They said, virus and to keep an eye on it.

Thursday:
Rest day - We decided not to visit our friends in MD and to stay home another day for all of us to rest. Unfortunately, Zoe got a fever around lunch and was sleeping a lot. My cold wasn't gone, but also didn't get worse. I just had a stuffy nose, which felt better when running. I wasn't worried about my health yet.

Friday:
Zoe didn't feel better and before we went to NYC we visited another urgent care - bronchitis for Zoe :(

At this point I really felt guilty for taking them up to NYC especially since Zoe didn't feel well. I felt selfish! But I worked so hard for this. Mommy guilt really kicked in that day. She was prescribed prednisone and the doctor said, it's ok to go. So I felt hopefully about her feeling better the next day.

She slept all the way to NYC, which made for a really quick trip. We decided to stay the first night in NJ, which is easy to drive to and also had a bus directly to the Expo. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel Meadowlands Area and were happy with it. Free parking, free breakfast and bus stop directly in front of the house. They also had a bus time schedule and were very friendly. Definitely a place I would recommend!

... 2 more days until the NYC Marathon!!
