Week 3 of NYC Marathon Training - and an Email from Allie Kieffer!

This was a great training week! I saw Dr Cho twice and also went again to PIYO. By the end of the week, my hip felt almost pain-free. My right toe wasn't bothering me at all, which is great news!

It was super hot and humid this week, so only one weekday run was outside and the rest was on the treadmill. It was just too freaking hot!

Wednesday I ran my 103rd streak day of at least 1 mile a day. I loved this running streak and I can't believe how much I enjoyed it, but decided to end it. My ultimate goal is to be strong, fast and injury-free and I think it's more important I do some stretching and strength training rather than a quick mile every day. That means I had my first real REST day on Thursday and spent some time reading about the NYC marathon. Great find at the local library!

Thursday night I actually got an email from Allie Kieffer! I was freaking out, an actual running elite was sending me a personalized email!

I sent her the info back but haven't heard anything yet. I'm hoping to get my training plan soon. Can't wait to see what she suggests!

By Saturday it wasn't as hot anymore, still humid though. My long was split up in two 6 milers. The first 6 were run with Jim, Brian and Kristia (avg 9:15 pace) and the second 6 miles with Janice (avg 9:17 pace). I was super excited that the avg pace was only 2 seconds slower at the second set. Love running consistent splits! And I'm so thankful for FARC! It makes long runs go by so much faster!

My toe didn't hurt during this long run, which is fantastic news, but I felt again around mile 9 or so, that the shoe is bothering me. It feels like I'm stepping on the side of the shoe sole. I'm pretty sure I can't run the full marathon distance in them. I ordered the Altra Paradigm 4.0 and really hope they will be a good fit for me. I'm a little nervous about the transition to a zero drop shoe in the middle of marathon training. But I don't think the current shoe is working either. I need more toe room, especially for my bunion. Also, the Paradigm are supposed to be a stability shoe with maximum cushioning, which Altra promised an easy and quick transition. They will be delivered tomorrow, wish me luck!

Tomorrow, I'm trying a Barre class and hope this will also help me getting stronger and faster and most importantly injury-free! Looking forward to another week of marathon training!!

...56 days until the NYC marathon!!
